Zpar biosurfactant

Zpar is a biodegradable biosurfactant formulated for cold conditions. It is designed to help release oil from soil and sludge without heating, and to be applied under the guidance of AI-Zpar.

Zpar is in laboratory validation and is not yet generally available. This page states what has and has not been shown.

What Zpar is

A surfactant lowers the grip that oil has on soil and water so the oil can be lifted and recovered. A biosurfactant does this using biodegradable ingredients, so it is intended to leave less behind than conventional chemical agents.

Designed to be biodegradable

Zpar is built on biosurfactants, which are intended to break down after use. Biodegradation and toxicity testing is still to be done, and results will be published as they come in.

Built for the cold

Many spills and legacy sites in Canada sit in cold ground. Zpar is a cold-active formulation, and laboratory testing is planned across 0 to 15 °C.

No heating

Zpar is designed to work without thermal input, which lowers the energy needed for a cleanup.

Where it is designed to be used

Land first: tank and equipment cleaning and contaminated soil. Wetlands, shorelines and open water come later, because they need regulator approval and independent toxicity testing before any use.

Six grades for six situations

One base formulation, adjusted for the kind of spill and the setting. These are concept-stage grades. None has been independently validated yet, and we are starting with the land and tank applications.

Use Zpar, AI-Zpar, or both

They are built to work together but do not depend on each other.

Zpar alone

A product trial on a tank, a sludge pit or a soil pad, measured by your own laboratory.

AI-Zpar alone

Track and forecast any cleanup, whatever method you use, and produce the progress report.

Both

Dosing guidance, field results and the report in one place, for a pilot that has to prove itself.

What has been shown so far

The plain version: promising internal results, independent confirmation in progress.

Internal bench testing: up to 98% oil recovery has been reported in the company's own tests.

Not yet shown: performance confirmed by an independent laboratory, results from field sites, and regulatory approval.

How Zpar and AI-Zpar fit together

Zpar is the product that goes on the ground. AI-Zpar is the software that tells you where to put it, how much to use, and whether it is working.

  1. 1

    Measure

Readings from the site go into AI-Zpar.

  2. 2

    Plan

The dosing advisor sets the amount and schedule.

  3. 3

    Apply

The field team applies Zpar to the areas that need it.

  4. 4

    Check

New readings show progress, and the forecast updates.

Common questions

Is Zpar proven?

Not yet by an independent party. The company's own tests are promising, and third-party laboratory validation is being arranged. We will publish the results here, whatever they show.

Can I buy Zpar today?

Not for general use. We are arranging pilot projects. If you have a site that could be a pilot, use the form below.

Is it approved by regulators?

Approval requirements depend on the jurisdiction and the use. We will pursue them after validation and publish the status here.

Is it safe for wetlands and water?

Environmental and safety data will be released as validation completes. Please do not apply any remediation product to a site without site-specific approval and testing.

Where do the performance numbers come from?

They are results from the company's internal tests, or targets for pilot sites. Neither has yet been verified by a third party.
